Excellent book. Well written, superbly researched. For lovers of history, European geography and culture, the academia, and vampires. Several intricately woven plot lines spanning roughly three generations make for a unique read. Historical and pseudo-historical details are perfectly blended together to drive the story forward. Could use a bit more character development, but what is there is adequate. Some nice use of very understated romantic subplot.
