Michael Apted? Wow. That's really good news. He directed Amazing Grace and one of the recent James Bond films.

I could do without the kiss, yeah. As for the motherless/fatherless thing . . . it wouldn't be such a big deal if they were old enough for accession when their parents left Narnia.

I'm sure you're right that life in Narnia is not supposed to be like "normal life" and all that. All the same, presumably, being kings and queens in Narnia is supposed to prepare the characters for being kings and queens in the Kingdom of God of the real world. The issue of succession is quite lacking in Narnia.

Probably has something to do with Lewis's eschatology.

"For Aslan!" Yes, I noticed that too. Very nice touch.

Michael Apted, not Andrew Adamson, will be at the helm of the next film, correct? I'm all for Adamson coming back as Puddleglum, though! =D

I went to see this movie knowing that it wouldn't follow the book word for word, and enjoyed it so much that I've seen it twice since. The only thing that I can't bring myself to forgive is the infamous kiss. It's just... wrong. As for why the Pevensies didn't marry and have families in Narnia... c'mon! Lewis knew better than to leave a bunch of kids fatherless and motherless when the four monarchs had to return to their own world. I don't think Narnia was meant as a place for them to live normal, earthly lives anyhow. (What would be the point of that?)

Just my two Narnian coins. Really enjoyed reading your review! Glad you liked the film, too. =)

For Narnia!

(I liked how Peter added, "...and for Aslan!" at the final battle, when at last he could "see" the Lion!)

Bother... Sorry if I double commented, Chris. I think I got the security code wrong the first time.

the makers of Prince Caspian kept to the original story surprisingly well, all thinks considered... i heard they were going to make it into a silly pure-action flick, but thankfully this was not the case
